FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
───────────────────
Here is a list of likely areas of development for upcoming versions of
Sapphire. We generally release a major update once per year, a correction
release after two months (if necessary), and a minor update after 6 months.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Let users set up an exclude-list to skip message bases in R *
■ Put COMMANDS.LEV and MSGBASES.DEF into CONFIG program
■ Put door and event definition into CONFIG program
■ Support traditional time and date specification
Switchable, at user's discretion, since present method takes less typing
■ Configurable number of messages
■ Improve handling of software list if sysop shrinks size of file list
■ Configurable command words
Tokenize words so that list can be sorted for proper abbreviation parsing
Let user select "standard Sapphire set" over sysop's choice of words
■ Configurable DUMBTERM program and parms (default to Pinnacle MODEM)
■ Interrupt-driven serial with port support as universal as it is now
■ Replace long dialogs (FILES, SPECS) with sub-sections
Give these their own menus
Provide an "all of the above" option for consistency with Sapphire design
■ Let GIVE and GET parse full or partial filenames with a bit more finesse
■ After you've done "S" for Save, you should be able to "Retain in Pad"
At the moment, you can't change your mind (except by using CHANGE or MOVE)
■ User list update at sign-up shouldn't time anybody out until the list is full
■ Default send-base for message received in Feedback
Should not default to the same base, but to EMail (if available)
■ Keep-control should be allowed in messages
■ Configurable colours
Each user can define his own choices thematically
Sysop defines what he sees on screen, or may see user's choice
■ Expansion of Stock file support
ANS for full ANSI
STD and GRA should support thematic color control
■ Library should allow use of Stock files (GRA and STD)
For compatibility, it should continue to recognize TXT files

If you have any suggestions for future development, call our support BBS at
514-345-8654 and drop us a line. We can not guarantee that we will implement
all suggestions, but we will give each one very careful consideration. Some-
times we combine several ideas by looking at the problem they are intended to
solve, rather than the actual text of the suggestions. We count on feedback
from Sapphire sysops to help us make the product better.
